Derik has been performing professionally since he was 22 years old, making his name at Vaudeville Cafe in Chattanooga, TN. For the last 8 years, Zoo has been working for the amazing Dolly Parton at her dinner attractions: First at Dolly Parton's Stampede in Branson, MO, where he was voted Comedian of the Year two years in a row. In 2023, Zoo got to come home and work at the Stampede in Pigeon Forge. In 2024, he was able to make the jump full time to Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud, where he currently stars as the Mayor.
Zoo has recently taken a role at "Rigatony's Murder Mystery" as well, performing on select nights. Getting back to his murder mystery and improv roots, Zoo loves the intimate atmosphere and the ability to play and connect with the audiences.
Since he was a little boy, Derik has been in front of people telling stories. His first "claim to fame" was stealing the show in a storytelling contest in sixth grade. Now he makes his living traveling the country telling stories about himself or through the sport of pro wrestling. Really living the dream.
Derik got on stage and told his first joke on July 2, 2011, and has been addicted to stand-up comedy ever since. In his stand-up career, he has opened for such legends as Bobcat Goldthwait, Carlos Mencia, Theo Vonn, Jim Breuer, Pauly Shore, Hannibal Burress, and Doug Stanhope.
